Data analysisData were analyzed using custom scripts written in the MATLAB environment (R2017a, MathWorks). Statistical tests were performed using MATLAB and IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, version 24 (IBM Corp.). EMG traces were full-wave rectified and then averaged. MEP amplitude was measured as the area under the curve of this average. Where MEPs were conditioned by loud sound, the amplitude of the conditioned MEP was expressed as a percentage of the unconditioned MEP.
