Nearly a year after construction started on the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC), the major contractor has marked the milestone with a video showcasing the project’s incredible progress. The video by Sacyr UK shows the progress of the build since May 2024 when the groundworks on site began. Since then, the earthworks to prepare the site and drainage systems to support the building have been put in place.

Okay, I know it’s not really a music video. It’s a TV clip from an era when music videos as such didn’t exist. The Moody Blues were invited to Prague in August 1968 to appear on the German music-television show, “Europarty.” The show, hosted by multilingual talent Albert Raisner, ran from 1967-70 and showcased the biggest music stars of the day at venues around Europe.

AbstractOne of the major consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the significant incidence of persistent fatigue following resolution of an acute infection (i.e. post-COVID fatigue). We have shown previously that, in comparison to healthy controls, those suffering from post-COVID fatigue exhibit changes in muscle physiology, cortical circuitry, and autonomic function.

My first day-to-day memories of Alan began in the summer of 1991, when both of us found jobs at the newly formed Prague Post, one of two English-language newspapers operating in the city back then. I was hired to be the paper’s business editor, while he would be editor-in-chief. I felt an instant kinship. We were both “Viennese” migrants at a time when most English-speaking foreigners came directly from the U.S., Canada and U.K. I had also learned a bit about his character through Delia.

Another great episode from a very good podcast.

Jan Hus was burned in Konstanz in 1415. But what was he accused of? And was he guilty? That is actually quite hard to say. Over the course of his trial Jan Hus was confronted with no less than 14 different lists of accusations, each containing up to 25 separate charges. 🧵(1/ https://t.co/usthe9Ltwq

On the 35th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, here’s an article I wrote a few years ago on how remarkable the events of 1989 were. With more recent events, particularly the war in Ukraine, it’s easy to forget now what a watershed year that really was. https://t.co/icOfSaRIVy
