Downtown El Paso will be the place to be Saturday, Nov. 23, with the tree lighting ceremony, Scherr Legate Lights Parade, and opening of the skating rink. Thousands of faithful will make the annual pilgrimage to Mount Cristo Rey. The celebration honors the Solemnity of Christ the King, according to the Mount Cristo Rey Restoration Committee. The gates will open at 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. Priests will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) at the base of the mountain from 9 a.m. until noon. The procession to the summit, with recitation of the Holy Rosary, will start at noon.

The historic community of San Elizario, which has a strong connection to World War II and the Vietnam War, celebrated its 28th Annual Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 9, under beautiful sunny skies.
