Fast response essential when stroke strikes

Big John’s BBQ has opened at building 3228 on Lacrosse Drive across from the Exchange and Commissary. The restaurant is in the former Burger King location. Free fishing event on tap at the river

Outdoor Recreation is presenting a free fishing day at the Carroll D. Hudson Recreation Area on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Coast Guard boater safety course is scheduled for later this month. Each year, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources designates a free fishing day for the public to fish recreationally in public waters without a fishing license. The event is part of National Fishing and Boating Week, which runs June 1-8.
Proclamation launches annual Armed Forces Celebration

Kevin Meisler, the Army Materiel Command chief of staff, said a proclamation designating June 1-14 as the region’s Armed Forces Celebration symbolizes the community’s “unwavering support” to the military. New system should reduce waiting times at One Stop

Beginning in June, Redstone One Stop will be launching Q-Flow, a new Q-Matic system, in a move to streamline its processes and reduce waiting times in line for services. The Army has chosen the One Stop to participate in a pilot program, according to Denise Jackson, human resources supervisor, and “initial testing on the system will take place during the installation week. “We will be one of the first installations to implement this new system,” Jackson said.

Women’s health focus for six-week series at Fox

A six-week class at Fox Army Health Center, called “The Mind and Body Detox: Peri-/Menopause Edition,” will offer women a multidisciplinary strategy for dealing with this life transition. “We are trying to take a multidisciplinary approach to helping women navigate perimenopause and menopause,” Heather Hough, the dietitian at Fox, said. She is collaborating with Brittany Huey, the behavioral health consultant in the Fox Primary Care Clinic, on the series.
