The president of a Southern Baptist university in Georgia reportedly ignored for years allegations a senior official groomed and sexually abused at least one female co-ed until police stepped in seven years later.  A former staff member claims he told Emir Caner, president of Truett McConnell University (TMU) in Cleveland, Georgia, about accusations concerning Bradley Reynolds, a longtime academic services VP at TMU as early as 2016. But Reynolds remained on staff until last year.

A Greenville, South Carolina, pastor and his wife have been jailed on nearly 40 counts related to the abuse of their seven adopted children and one biological daughter, with allegations dating back to the 1980s. Myron Chorbajian, 73, pastor of the 1st Southern Methodist Church in Greenville and his wife, Kathleen Ann Chorbajian, 70, were arrested on May 15, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Daniel Floyd, a megachurch pastor in Virginia, will become senior pastor of Gateway Church, the scandal-plagued Dallas-area congregation founded by accused child molester Robert Morris. In 2005, Floyd and his wife Tammie both founded Lifepoint Church in Fredericksburg, a suburb 54 miles south of Washington, D.C. The church has since grown to five locations around the commonwealth.
