The Pac-12 Conference will never be what it once was even after the efforts to rebuild it. “I never thought I’d see the Pac-12 fall apart,” Oregon State men’s basketball coach Wayne Tinkle said. “I mean, what a freakin’ shame that is, but we are where we are.”That could be taken figuratively and literally. LAS VEGAS (AP) — Her breast cancer treatment concluded, Lisa Fortier walked into the Gonzaga basketball facility last week and was greeted by balloons, streamers and her players blowing horns. Yvonne Ejim told her coach through tears how proud she was of Fortier, saying, “I never once doubted you.”Fortier, who found out Feb. 6 that she had cancer and underwent surgery in April, is still recovering from radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Former WSU Cougars standout Gardner Minshew made a name for himself as a quarterback who can provide a spark off the bench. Now he will get the chance to start for the Raiders when they open their season next month. Las Vegas coach Antonio Pierce made the announcement Sunday. Minshew got the nod over Aidan O’Connell. Pierce said Minshew’s experience and his handling of the offense gave him the edge.
