Photo by G Fiume/Getty Images The injury bug has bitten the Orioles again. Ahead of the start of Saturday’s game against the Yankees, the team placed Adley Rutschman on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. Maverick Handley has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk. This is a disappointment if not a surprise after Rutschman was suddenly scratched within an hour of first pitch before Friday’s game. At the time, the Orioles described the issue as left abdominal tightness.

Jonathan Dyer-Imagn Images One day after the Orioles were on the wrong end of history with blowing an 8-0 lead, they bounced back. Colton Cowser delivered the big hit of the night, cracking a home run for the third game in a row when the team needed one. Photo by Brace Hemmelgarn/Minnesota Twins/Getty Images The great and terrible thing about baseball is that there’s pretty much always another game coming the next day. This is great when things are going well and you get another chance to prove it. It’s terrible when things aren’t going well and there is no escape from that fact. The Orioles, after blowing an 8-0 lead last night to ultimately lose 12-8 to the Rays, are more on the “terrible” end of the fact that there’s a game today.

Photo by Peyton Stoike/Baltimore Orioles/Getty Images By golly, the Orioles have done it again. They’ve won more games than they’ve lost over the previous Thursday-to-Wednesday period. Why are those the dates for my weeks, you may wonder? Opening Day was a Thursday, so that was the start of week one, and I’ve gone from there. This wasn’t their best week - two weeks ago I was writing about an undefeated week - but for the 2025 team this is uncommonly good.
