Kitchener committee to review dogs’ fate after mother-child attack

The City of Kitchener’s Dog Designation Appeal Committee will help determine the fate of three large-breed dogs involved in the unprovoked attack of a mother and infant child earlier this month. The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth designated the dogs “prohibited” after concluding its investigation into the April 4 incident on Village Road. A fourth dog involved in the attack was previously surrendered to the Humane Society and has been euthanized.

Police nab two in Cambridge auto theft attempts

Two men have been arrested by the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s break, enter and vehicle theft (BEVT) team following investigations into two attempted auto thefts in Cambridge. The arrests followed the execution of a search warrant on Wednesday in both Toronto and Pickering. During the search, police say they successfully recovered a stolen BMW, approximately $8,000 in cash, and additional evidence related to the incidents.
