Gerald Vega might not have had much of a voice left after Saturday's "No Kings" protest on Park Avenue West. The 20-year-old president of the Richland County Young Democrats used a bullhorn to rally the crowd of about 250, who braved a rainy forecast to make their voices heard. "We're out here protesting what we believe to be the petty dictatorship and tyranny of President Donald Trump," Vega said. "We need to get our voices out there and say, 'This is not acceptable.

Adam McElroy calls the project to benefit Skate Ohio "serendipity."McElroy is the vice president of Skate Ohio, a local nonprofit group dedicated to skateboarding and non-traditional sports. He was referring to his chance meeting with Angelo Gallo. A 1997 Mansfield Senior graduate, Gallo is the business partner of Andre Miripolsky, a pop artist based in Los Angeles. The Mansfield native saw McElroy teaching his young daughter how to skateboard a couple of years ago.

Kelsey Cunning moved to Mansfield in 2023 after inheriting the family farmhouse in city limits. She wanted to raise chickens on the 2.98-acre property, but learned she didn't have enough acreage. According to the existing law in Mansfield, chickens are allowed only on properties that are 3 acres or larger. Cunning and supporters of Friends for Mansfield Backyard Chickens are hoping to change the policy.

Bob Bianchi stood directly above the longstanding problem. "Under this roadway, about 5 feet deep, there's a 4-inch water main built about 110 years ago," the city engineer told a crowd Wednesday morning. Bianchi then brought out a visual aid for his point. "The contractor for the project dug up some of that main and replaced a little bit of it," he said. "I'd like to show you what that main looks like. This is the actual pipe that was under Parkway (Drive) up near Fourth Street.

Shelby's Seltzer Park pickleball courts are experiencing issues with vandalism, littering and profanity from some younger users. Park officials discussed the problems, which include disruptive behavior and refusal to leave the courts, at a recent meeting. Suggestions for addressing the issues include signage outlining acceptable behavior and potentially installing security cameras. Police have been called at least once due to an incident involving a pickleball racket thrown through a window.
