Geoff and I (and RoboScout) have been hard at work updating the Dynasty 500 rankings. Look for them to come out in the next couple days. It’s a bit early for the Dominican Summer League “rankings” but there have been some interesting performances in the first weekLet’s dig in. Dominican Summer League HittingIt’s too early for a meaningful list, but a few hitters have made early noise.

NoneHunter Barco, LHP: Before a trip to the injured list with a mild left shoulder strain, Barco was one of the most effective pitchers in the upper minors. He fired 25.2 scoreless innings with Double-A Altoona and was then promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis. Barco’s velo has ticked up across his entire pitch mix after cleaning up the lower half of his delivery over the offseason. The Pirates activated Barco off the IL on May 31.

Jacob Wilson, SS: Wilson has been the American League’s most productive rookie via his unique blend of frenetic energy, elite bat-to-ball skills and impressive plate coverage. His 6.1% walk percentage trailed only Luis Arraez among qualified big leaguers through May, and his 91.3% contact percentage ranked third behind Arraez and Steven Kwan. Wilson’s playing a solid shortstop, and he’s even homered seven times, showing a bit more over-the-fence power than external evaluators anticipated.
