The “extreme heat” has arrived in Las Vegas. Just in time for the weekend. An extreme heat warning takes effect at 9 a.m. today and is set to expire at 11 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The agency is forecasting a high of 103 degrees for today and 104 degrees for Saturday. The heat could break records both days. The heat warning covers much of the Mojave Desert, including Las Vegas and the Colorado River Valley. Temperatures over 115 are likely in Death Valley.

May started out cooler and wetter than normal in Las Vegas. It’s gonna end much differently. An “extreme heat watch” has been issued for Southern Nevada later this week, about a week after the valley saw its first 100 degree day of 2025. The watch, issued by the National Weather Service, starts Friday morning and is set to expire Saturday night.

Don’t expect a calm Saturday in Las Vegas. Especially if you’re heading to the Electric Daisy Carnival at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. A wind advisory has been issued for Southern Nevada by the National Weather Service. The advisory starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 11 p.m.Expect southwest winds from 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. There is a 20 percent chance of showers Saturday night. The NWS says “gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.

A young male died in a shooting Friday night in North Las Vegas. The shooting happened at 5:06 p.m. in the 2500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North. The North Las Vegas Police Department, in a statement, said “officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North in response to reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound.”The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
