Three California men arrested on gun, drug charges in York County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Three California men were arrested Sunday after a traffic stop in York County. Just after 4 a.m., deputies pulled over a car on Interstate 80 about 9 miles southwest of York. During the stop, the deputy had probable cause to search the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said. According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy found two firearms, a knife, psilocybin mushrooms, hashish, prescription medication, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Two hospitalized with serious injuries after ATV crash in Gage County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Gage County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an ATV crash that sent two to the hospital. Just before 6:45 p.m. Saturday, law enforcement received multiple calls about a crash near Cherry and A streets in Blue Springs. Investigators said two 35-year-old men were riding their ATV north on A Street. Shortly after passing Cherry Street, officials said they lost control and rolled into a ditch.

The Nebraska men’s basketball team will take on Oklahoma at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Nov. 15. The two old conference rivals will face off for just the second time since 2010 as the Sooners lead the all-time series 105-83.
'Deeply loved' sea lion, Chino, dies at Omaha zoo

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium on Monday announced the passing of a 20-year-old California sea lion. On Saturday, Chino died from an intestinal mesenteric root tension, or twisting of the intestinal tract and support structures. Despite Chino’s long-standing history of good health, the zoo said his condition arose quickly and he was humanely euthanized. In a press release on Monday, the zoo said Chino has been a member of the zoo’s sea lion family since 2010.
Nebraska softball headed to Baton Rouge for NCAA tournament regional

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 19-ranked Nebraska softball team found out its placement in the 2025 NCAA Tournament on Sunday. The Huskers will head to the Baton Rouge Regional — hosted by LSU — joining UConn and Southeast Louisiana. Nebraska will be a No. 2 seed in that regional, matching up with No. 3 UConn on Friday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
Several crews battling south Lincoln house fire

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Several crews are battling a house fire in south Lincoln on Sunday. Just before 1:40 p.m., nearly 15 Lincoln Fire & Rescue units were sent to a home near 27th and South streets. In a video sent to our NOW Local News App by a Channel 8 reporter, you can see the area filled with smoke as firefighters battle the blaze. Channel 8 is waiting to hear what started the fire, if there were any injuries and how much damage the blaze caused. Crews are still at the scene.
Two-vehicle crash in north Lincoln sends one to hospital

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One person was taken to the hospital Sunday after a two-vehicle crash in north Lincoln. Just after 1 p.m., several first responders were sent to the intersection of 25th and Potter streets. The Lincoln Police Department said the crash involved a black pickup truck and a green sedan, and the intersection was closed for a short period of time. According to LPD, one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. There is no word on what caused the crash.

State Patrol investigating triple murder-suicide in central Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating a triple murder-suicide in central Nebraska. Around 9:45 a.m. Saturday, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was sent to a home at Johnson Lake, Plum Creek Canyon #1 in rural Dawson County. When deputies arrived, they found four dead individuals inside the home. All four lived in the home, the state patrol said in a press release. The deceased individuals have been identified as Jeremy, Bailey, Hudson, and Asher Koch.
