Underused or vacant public spaces can often go to waste, but for a Forrestfield shopping centre car park that won't be the case for long. City of Kalamunda mayor, Margaret Thomas, told Mark Gibson on ABC Radio Perth that a plan to make a car park at the Edinburgh Shopping Centre more welcoming was underway. Guide dogs have an all-access pass in Western Australia meaning they can go anywhere the general public is allowed to go. Yet guide dog owners often report facing discrimination. According to a 2024 survey commissioned by Guide Dogs Australia, almost 50 per cent of handlers had been refused a rideshare or taxi trip with their dog in the previous 24 months.
