    The City of Canning has pioneered a new technique for tackling the polyphagous shot-hole borer, which appears to save the trees. Infected trees were injected with a small amount of fungicide and insecticide four months ago and are showing positive early results. The city wants government endorsement and funding to conduct further trials and hopes the treatment means fewer trees will have to be cut down.
