Perth photographer Dan Grant initially created his hand-drawn public toilet map for friends, then found others were interested. He said the map started when he was spending hours in the Perth CBD and needed to find a bathroom. "I work as a photographer, a freelancer, and I do about maybe five hours of my work week in the CBD, but it's without a base, so I've made up a mental map over the years of where the best and the worst toilets are," Grant told ABC Radio Perth's Kate Leaver.

It is hard to picture the heritage-listed Perth suburb of Guildford without the more than hundred-year-old sugar gum trees shading the main street. But 25 years ago, locals took to the streets in protest to save 26 gums from the chainsaw after a council report claimed they were in poor condition and not structurally stable. Loading... Devoted Freo Dockers fan and honorary member Lilian Martin is the club's oldest supporter. She's been behind the club since day one and will celebrate her 105th birthday on grand final day. Ms Martin told Kate Leaver from ABC Radio Perth that she has hardly missed a game in 30 years. This weekend, on AFL Grand Final Day, Ms Martin will turn 105 years old.

In the heart of Perth's entertainment district is the cultural centre, home to Western Australia's art gallery, library and renowned WA Museum Boola Bardip. But it's also been described as a "hot desert" and "an awful place to visit" by the planning minister, who at the weekend was spruiking a $55 million rejuvenation project. Helen George's mother Olive lived an active, independent life, regularly visiting her daughter in Perth from her home in the UK, until her mid-90s when she began to deteriorate physically. "From that time when she was losing her mobility, she was saying, 'I've had a good life. I'd be quite happy to go now'," she said. Eventually, Olive's care needs were so great she had to go into aged care, a source of great distress to her. "Right until the end, she was mentally astute.
