OWENDALE — For Terri Falkenberg, the end is near. The end of her time at Owendale-Gagetown Schools. Falkenberg is set to retire Dec. 31, turning over the superintendent’s role to Nick Huston. And to prepare for that change, the board took several steps at its Nov. 20 session. One change was caused directly by Huston’s elevation to superintendent. The five-member board had decided late in its Nov. 25 session to offer the job to Grand Blanc Township resident Jodi Holbrook. The hire was dependent on a clear background check and the two sides agreeing on an employment contract.

VASSAR TWP. — Forgive the Vassar Township Board of Trustees if it’s channeling a photographer for Better Homes & Gardens magazine. The board at its Nov. 18 meeting delayed approval of landscaping provided in a plan to accent the exterior of the new township hall being built at the corner of Saginaw Road and Caine Road. Instead, the board will get a price for grading and adding topsoil, but without the plants proposed to go around the hall, which sits kitty-corner from the existing township hall.
