The National Bank Bursary Program has been a longstanding part of the Aléo Foundation calendar and this year the program presented the 33rd edition of the bursary ceremonies held in partnership with the Aléo Foundation. There were 22 athletes from 18 different sports sharing in the $100,000 of bursaries and services. There were five local student/athletes among the bursary recipients.

The seventh edition of Patrice Bernier and Friends raised over $30,000 during its event on March 30th at Collège Montmorency in Laval. Since 2017, the event has raised more than $150,000. The money raised will be used to raise funds for the Patrice Bernier Foundation, which aims to directly help young people by allowing them to participate in physical activities in a safe and inspiring environment. “I’m so happy to see how far the soccer event has come year after year,” Patrice Bernier said.

Last Thursday evening at Verdun’s Le Trèfle Taverne Montreal Alliance president Jo-annie Charbonneau, members of the Alliance front office and players welcomed fans to enjoy the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s (CEBL) draft. It was important to host this event as the Alliance held the first overall pick of the draft. With the number one pick, Montreal tapped Park Extension’s own Sultan Haider Bhatti a standout player with the Brandon University Bobcats.

The quest for the Jimmy Ferrari Cup, emblematic of the Quebec U18 AAA Development Hockey League champion, came down to a battle between a pair of top teams in their division. The Lévis Chevaliers of the East Division and the CCM Division’s Laval-Montreal Rousseau Royal squared off for the cup and a berth in the TELUS Cup U18 AAA Canadian Championship. It was the Chevaliers punching their ticket to Fraser Valley, BC following a three-game sweep of the Royal.

The Cote St. Luc Canuck U11 B girls hockey team were sizzling hot in the Lac St. Louis Regional Playoffs coming away with a hard-fought silver medal performance. The squad finished the regular season in seventh place in the standings, but the Canucks made an incredible post-season run at the regionals. The Canucks got some payback on the number one team of the season, the Dollard Blades following a 5-4 loss to close out round robin portion of regional play.
