Owensboro Catholic and Hancock County had several top finishers in the Class 1A Region 2 Track and Field Meet last Saturday at McLean County High School. Owensboro Catholic’s Peyton Reid was a double winner in the girls 800 meter run and the 1,600. AdvertisementReid won the 800 in 2:29.17. Catholic’s Scarlett Isenbarger was third in 2:34.61. Reid won the 1,600 in 5:35.97. Catholic’s Caroline Wathen was second in 5:48.95. Catholic’s Allie Marston won the 200-meter dash in 27.43.

Daviess County’s Molly Hancock laughed when it was pointed out to her that a grand slam and a 2-run home run she hammered to nearly the identical spot over the right center field fence at DC on Tuesday. Those two home runs fueled a Daviess County 10-0 win over Apollo in a 9th District matchup that marked the first time DC had played in two weeks.

The last time Apollo High School’s girls soccer team beat Owensboro Catholic was in September 2009. That was true until Tuesday night.
