John Perumbalath, Bishop of Liverpool, has been accused of sexually harassing two female clerics, including one of the Church of England’s bishops, according to a Channel 4 News report released January 28. He denies the allegations. Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York and the Church of England’s acting primate, is accused by his critics of a coverup, because he reportedly knew of allegations against Perumbalath, a former protégé, before he was enthroned in Liverpool.

Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe led his colleagues in the House of Bishops through a day-long discussion of plans December 4 for realigning the Episcopal Church Center’s work. The meeting attracted 140 bishops, nearly every one in active ministry; 85 heard him in person at the DoubleTree Hilton Minneapolis Airport, and another 55 participated virtually.

The Ven A. Paul Feheley, the Episcopal Church’s Global Partnerships officer for the Middle East, was awarded the Cross of St. Augustine for Services to the Anglican Communion by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby this fall. Feheley was one of 26 honorees for the Lambeth Awards in 2024, which have been presented annually by the archbishop since 2016 to recognize distinguished service to the church.
