Better monitoring of States employees working from home is being called for after it emerged that there are no detailed records kept of employees’ locations or working patterns, including for some who are based outside the island. In answer to written questions posed by Deputy Chris Le Tissier, Policy & Resources’ president Lyndon Trott said that there was no central data on the number of employees working from home either full- or part-time.

The move by Home Affairs follows concerns expressed by local bomb disposal expert Ben Remfrey that a 2019 survey of the area did not probe deep enough.

Skip to main content Famous ships, local locations and 1940s characters were brought to life by nearly 30 floats created for this year’s 80th Liberation Day cavalcade. Real nurses, staff from the PEH Critical Care Unit, dressed in the uniforms of their 1940s counterparts as they readied themselves to set off in a mock-up of the Guernsey emergency hospital from the Occupation era. As well as nurses, the 18 people on the float included ‘patients’ ranging in age from 10 months to 82 years old.

And there were thousands out of Town too, since all along the east coast the pavements and grass verges were lined with cars and onlookers waiting to watch the hundreds of vehicles and floats in the cavalcade, while in Town itself the piers were buzzing with children’s activities and adults enjoying food and drink in the sun.
