    Construction aggregates firm Allstone has signed a multimillion-pound deal to acquire concrete suppliers Monster Mix  in a move which sees the two Gloucester names integrate to deliver a comprehensive construction materials package for developers in the county. Based on Gloucester's Eastern Avenue, Monster Mix's team now join the existing payroll of 90 Allstone staff operating from its Myers Road HQ.

    Around 100 people got together this morning to find out more about social value in Gloucestershire. The event at the Business School at University of Gloucestershire's Oxstalls Campus was part of Social Value Week (April 7-13). Guests came from across the business community and private and public sectors, including representatives from the NHS, CPS, charities and local councils.     Sixteen breweries are about to battle it out in the inaugural Gloucestershire Brewery Challenge. The Thirsty Pine Beer Café in Brunswick Road, Gloucester, has invited 16 breweries from all over the county to take part in the challenge, which kicks off on Saturday, April 5. Andy Holian, owner of The Thirsty Pine, said: "It's a cask beer-led tournament. We basically have eight head-to-head ties in round one where two breweries will put a beer forward of their choosing.
