An epic all-night litter pick along the Cotswold Way on the shortest night of the year collected nearly 2,000 pieces of rubbish, including soiled knickers, faeces, sanitary towels, fast food packaging, 129 bags of dog poo and more than 950 pieces of plastic. But the haul raised £1,000 towards organiser Cllr Gill Thomas's campaign to buy litter-pickers, books and reading sessions for local schools – and has made a tidy sum towards the crucial target.
