    • Wisconsin-Whitewater defeated Trinity (Texas), 7-3, in the final game of the opening day at the NCAA Division III College World Series in Eastlake at Classic Auto Group Park. The game was completed May 31 after it was postponed in the fifth inning late May 30 because of inclement weather. The Warhawks led, 6-0, when it was called. Whitewater scored four runs in the bottom of the first. Danny Hopper's bases-loaded single scored the game's first two runs.

    Division III college baseball power Wisconsin-Whitewater and Cinderella Messiah are set to decide the national championship in Eastlake. The teams each won their brackets with victories June 2 at Classic Park and advanced to the NCAA D-III College World Series best-of-three championship series. Messiah (39-14) improved to 3-0 at the CWS with an 8-2 victory over Endicott (45-6), which was eliminated. Messiah was the No. 8 and lowest seed entering the tournament.
