Super Rugby is going to be a hard sell this year. The New Zealand teams are lacking a firmament of stars, with half the All Blacks who started the World Cup final currently playing overseas. Some of those players were coming towards the end of their career, but the departure of Richie Mo’unga is devastating for both Super Rugby and the All Blacks.

The recent damning Governance Review said that the game in this country was underpinned by a financially unsustainable old boys network. It raised flags around diversity, fan satisfaction, grassroots rugby, egotistical schools and many, many other issues and called the constitution and governance structure of NZR ‘unfit for purpose’.

Yep, it’s all hilariously hysterical. The initial cause of all the Yankee wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth, was the announcement of regulations to stop the golf ball travelling quite so far. Horror of horrors, the R&A and the USGA have decreed that from 2028 the professional golf ball will be limited to a journey of 317 yards (290m) from a swing speed of 125mph (201kph). The same rule comes in for us amateurs in 2030.
