    Michelle and Rene Torres missed the food from the New York City/New Jersey area. When they couldn’t find it in North Texas, they decided to start their own food truck, and just a short time later, they’ve got one restaurant open in Denton and are already considering opening more. Michelle said she and her husband had both been born and raised in the Tri-State area, but in 2021 they made a “big faith move” to south Denton with their four young children.

    The city of Highland Village announced recently that it will temporarily convert the disinfectant used in the public water distribution system, which may affect the taste, odor and feel of the water coming out of residents’ faucets. The conversion from chloramine to free chlorine will begin on March 19 and end on April 9, 2025.

    The town of Flower Mound and cities of Highland Village and Lewisville celebrated the grand opening of the new John Ashman Fire Training Complex last week. The Flower Mound Fire Department began discussions with the Lewisville Fire Department in 2019 about a partnership to rebuild the Lewisville Fire Training Center, which is no longer usable.

    Denton ISD is making $5.5 million of improvements at Harpool Middle School. In the fall, the district filed two renovation construction projects with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for Harpool Middle School in Lantana. First was a $4 million track and field project that includes converting the grass field to artificial turf, installing an all-weather track and building a 2,400-square-foot storage facility for the track.
