For years, one of the items on my travel bucket list was to swim with manatees in Florida, but the more I researched the topic, the more I wondered if this was the best way to interact with these fascinating sea mammals. There is growing concern among wildlife managers that direct, close-up interactions—such as swimming with manatees—can have more negative impacts on them than less invasive activities like kayaking or observing them from the shore.

Is it better for #manatees if we stop swimming with them? Is watching them from a boat better? I don't know the answer, but I chose to see them from a kayak when I visited Crystal River, Florida last month. https://t.co/ax4G3EfJZr #travel https://t.co/sZGsrbLfff

If you came to #Montreal to experience winter, but find it a bit too gruelling, head to the Underground City where it's a lot warmer. I took @tourbirder's #audiotour and found it a fun way to explore this under-appreciated part of the city. #Travel https://t.co/tdnmHlKDJq https://t.co/huPRO0tlYh

A great way to explore #Taipei is on two wheels. Here's an older #travel story of mine that was no longer available online by the publication that originally published it, but I have revived it and revised it on my website. https://t.co/ryOy9UoNdB https://t.co/LQXg2rsB8n
