The Mavic X-Tend electric bike motor, having gone dark for a period since its headline-grabbing debut in the spring of 2023 appears to be back and making progress thanks to a collaboration with Toyota Group company Jtekt. Jtekt is a Japanese automotive systems supplier that has expertise in things like power steering, but that has a toe in the cycling world on account of the ceramic bearings that it produces, with products specifically made for bikes since 1984.

Perhaps you’ve tried one at any of Cycling Electric’s Demo Day events this year.
