New Mexico announced the hiring of Eric Olen as its new men’s basketball head coach shortly after 10 a.m. on March 30. It took UC San Diego less than four hours to promote Clint Allard as his replacement. The rest of the Tritons’ reconstruction project, though, will take a bit longer. “It’s been a little hectic,” Allard said. Over the ensuing days, UCSD lost three assistant coaches, both incoming freshman recruits and five members of the 2024-25 roster to the transfer portal.

San Diego State’s basketball team already added one transfer from a fellow Mountain West school who seemed to have his best games against the Aztecs. They just got another. Two weeks after landing former Wyoming forward Jeremiah Oden, the Aztecs received an oral commitment Tuesday from sharpshooting San Jose State guard Latrell Davis, who has two years of eligibility remaining and is believed to be SDSU’s first English player.

The next year, sick again on the second Thursday in April. "It took them about two years to catch on," Hastings said, "before they started to be like, this is getting a little bit of a coincidence.
