    SAN DIEGO — The first thing you need to understand about the House settlement, despite bold proclamations that it will spawn an exciting, new era of college athletics, is that it amounts to a big, fat L for the NCAA. kAmxE 4@?D@=:52E65 E9C66 2?E:ECFDE =2HDF:ED 2?5 @AE65 E@ 2G@:5 EC:2= 2?5 E96 AC@DA64E @7 A@E6?E:2==J 42E2DEC@A9:4 7:?2?4:2= =@DD6D[ 6DD6?E:2==J 2446AE:?8 2 a_\A@:?E 362E5@H? :?DE625 @7 H92E 4@F=5 36 c_ @C d_ 8:G6? :ED :?2FDA:4:@FD C64@C5 :?

    SAN DIEGO (TNS)— The first thing you need to understand about the House settlement, despite bold proclamations that it will spawn an exciting, new era of college athletics, is that it amounts to a big, fat L for the NCAA. It consolidated three antitrust lawsuits and opted to avoid trial and the prospect of potentially catastrophic financial losses, essentially accepting a 20-point beatdown instead of what could be 40 or 50 given its inauspicious record in litigation.
