UK vendor Darktrace makes DACH landfall with Bechtle

Darktrace, a cybersecurity vendor based in Cambridge, has taken a new step into the DACH region. The provider has now entered into a partnership with Bechtle that makes its solution available to customers across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Together, the partners also want to develop other services. As more and more companies use AI and focus on data protection as a key priority, Bechtle is completing its cybersecurity portfolio.
ALSO Group and Westcoast announce merger

In a significant development for the European distribution sector, European powerhouses Westcoast and ALSO Group have announced a merger agreement, retaining the ALSO name. The merger is pending regulatory approval. Westcoast chairman Joe Hemani (pictured, right) is set to become a major shareholder in ALSO, which is primarily owned by the Düsseldorf-based Droege Group.
Bechtle Q1: Sales dip as German economic slowdown bites

German reseller giant Bechtle is one of many firms feeling the pinch of the German economic slowdown. Sales in the first quarter of 2024 fell by 2.3 per cent to €1.5bn. In Germany, which makes up 58 per cent of Bechtle's business, sales fell 6.5 per cent. They grew by 4.2 per cent across the rest of Europe, with the UK being singled out as a positive performer alongside Belgium and the Netherlands.
ALSO Group finds new CEO in Austria and CEE leader

Of the eight-member management team presented by Also CEO Gustavo Möller-Hergt (pictured) a few weeks ago, Wolfgang Krainz has won the race to succeed the CEO at distributor ALSO. The 53-year-old is currently regional chief customer officer for Austria and Central and Eastern Europe, and will take up the CEO mantle from 1 May. He first joined ALSO Austria as managing director in 2016. For a short time, he also became managing director of Financial Services Austria, which was founded in 2019.
CEO Frank Roebers to leave Synaxon

Synaxon CEO Frank Roebers is leaving the business after more than 30 years. "I'm drawn back to self-employment. I started my journey in the IT market as an entrepreneur and now I'm going back to my roots and starting a new business," he tells CRN DE about his departure. Throughout his career, Roebers has preached disruption, warning early on that the coming wave of cloud-based and managed-based IT services would sweep solutions providers away if they continued to cling to the hardware business.

Bechtle named HP Global Elite partner as vendor leans on partners for AI push

German reseller Bechtle has been named one of six Global Power Elite partners of HP. The new classification designates HP's top six partners globally. Bechtle earned this status through its established presence in 14 European countries alongside its most recent annual turnover of EUR6.4bn. Being one of the six Global Power Elite partners also meant that Bechtle took the stage at HP's Amplify Partner Conference in Las Vegas, which saw the vendor unveil its AI-focused roadmap to around 1,500 channel.
