14 1/1 TORCHES and a beacon lit up the evening sky as a community came together to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Lyme Regis invited the community to come together for a day of remembrance, reflection, and celebration. It started with the raising of the VE Day flag at the Guildhall and proclamation by the town crier. Later there was a service at the war memorial and then in the evening a torchlight procession and lighting of the beacon.
