There is widespread shock and sadness following the sudden death a talented young footballer and camogie player. Aoife Shelly, 22, from Clonakenny in Roscrea, CoTipperary, passed away suddenly on Sunday from pleurisy. Aoife, who is survived by her mum Claire, dad Joe and brother Eoghan, was a talented gaelic footballer who played for the Moyne Templetuohy ladies junior side, helping the club win the county Junior A title last October.

Two people have died and two children have been injured following a two-vehicle crash at Navigation Road in Mallow, Co Cork this afternoon. The Republic's Emergency services are at the scene of the incident, which occurred around 3.45pm on the N72 Killarney to Mallow Road. It's the second fatal collision to occur this afternoon, after a woman in her 60s died in a three-vehicle crash in Waterford just over an hour earlier. It is understood that the two injured children are aged five and eight.

Amanda Phillips gave birth to her first child Phoebe seven months ago. While she was delighted with her newborn baby girl, the mother admitted the first 10 weeks of her life were tough, as she appeared to be choking on her milk and would pull away after one or two sucks.

Joey Barton has posted a slogan closely affiliated with the IRA just a matter of hours after he was found guilty of assaulting his wife. The former Rangers star has been given a 12-week suspended prison sentence following an incident in 2021. Barton was found to have attacked his wife Georgia Barton on June 2 that year, pushing and kicking her in the head at their home, a court heard.
