A Nottingham man has been found guilty of carrying out sex acts on a young boy. Following a four-day trial at Nottingham Crown Court, a jury of nine men and three women took more than five hours to unanimously convict Graham Occleshaw of four counts of sexual assault of a child aged under 13 and one count of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. The 54-year-old, of Bulwell, showed little emotion when the verdicts were delivered on the afternoon of Thursday, April 17.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how almost 1,250 plants were found when officers raided the commercial premises in Basford. Four large areas of the property had been set aside for growing drugs, the electricity had been bypassed and sophisticated fans and lighting rigs had been installed to help the plants grow.

Graham Occleshaw denied touching the young boy sexually, carrying out a sex act or getting the minor to touch him as well. The defendant, of Bulwell, is on trial at Nottingham Crown Court for five counts of sexual assault of, or sexual activity with, a child. He denies all of them.

A killer who beat a fellow inmate to death in prison has told a jury he feels 'terrible' that he ended his victim’s life. Giving evidence at his murder trial, Andrew Thorpe said Jonathan Thornton “was not a bad person” and “did not deserve to die” at his hands. The 38-year-old also denied he intended to kill a different man he stabbed on that victim’s Edwalton doorstep a month before he attacked Mr Thornton in the shower block at HMP Nottingham.

Following a week-long trial at Nottingham Crown Court, a jury took four hours and 20 minutes to clear Julian Mead of trying to kill Natalie Packer. Nottingham Crown Court heard a barmaid needed hospital treatment after she was struck on the head by a pool ball thrown by Marie Godfrey. A Nottinghamshire man has been charged with offences relating to him allegedly using social media to try and stir up religious hatred. In one post on X, formerly Twitter, Robert Woodcock is alleged to have published or distributed written material stating “every Islamic person on the planet needs a bullet”. The 45-year-old is alleged to have used the same social media platform to post offensive Far Right words on seven more occasions during a month-long spell earlier this year.
