    The Dan River baseball team is hitting their stride, winners of five of their last six ball games. This week, the Wildcats were victorious over Altavista and Gretna - forcing a three-way tie for first place in the Dogwood District with the Colonels and Appomattox County. The Wildcats roared out with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Dan River defeated Altavista 7-1 on Monday. Sophomore Trace Jones was dominant on the mound as he held the Colonels scoreless for six innings.

    Dan River's varsity softball and baseball teams went 2-1 this week. The Wildcats bounced back from losses on Monday to take down Chatham and William Campbell. SoftballThe Wildcats suffered a 6-3 road loss at Gretna on Monday evening. Dan River trailed 5-0 after three innings but battled back with a run in the fourth and two in the sixth innings to make it a 5-3 game. Gretna added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and the Wildcats were unable to rally again.

    Dan River senior Jameer Reynolds concluded his Wildcat career by earning a spot on the 2024-2025 Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 2 All-State Boys Basketball team. Reynolds earned Second Team All-State honors after helping the Dan River Wildcats go 17-7 on the season. Senior Jameer Reynolds, who previously played at Carlisle, was one of the area’s top performers on the hardwood in his first and only season with the Wildcats.

    Dan River High School senior Bryan Coleman Jr. will continue his football career on the collegiate level as he recently signed his letter of intent to attend Hampden-Sydney College. Coleman made his announcement in front of family, teammates, and coaches in the school library. BJ Coleman, the son of Bryan and Kimberly Coleman, will be a 2025 honor graduate of Dan River High School. He started at defensive back for the Wildcats’ football team for the last two seasons.

    Dan River and Tunstall face off for the last time this season, this time in Ringgold. Friday's softball game between Wildcats and Trojans saw each team ditch their traditional school colors to wear orange and white uniforms and orange ribbons to honor Tunstall freshman Kara Eastwood, who is battling Leukemia. In Friday's rematch with the Trojans, the Wildcats were able to build up a big lead at 6-0 after three innings and 8-1 after four completed.
