Dan River senior Jameer Reynolds concluded his Wildcat career by earning a spot on the 2024-2025 Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 2 All-State Boys Basketball team. Reynolds earned Second Team All-State honors after helping the Dan River Wildcats go 17-7 on the season. Senior Jameer Reynolds, who previously played at Carlisle, was one of the area’s top performers on the hardwood in his first and only season with the Wildcats.

Dan River High School senior Bryan Coleman Jr. will continue his football career on the collegiate level as he recently signed his letter of intent to attend Hampden-Sydney College. Coleman made his announcement in front of family, teammates, and coaches in the school library. BJ Coleman, the son of Bryan and Kimberly Coleman, will be a 2025 honor graduate of Dan River High School. He started at defensive back for the Wildcats’ football team for the last two seasons.

Dan River and Tunstall face off for the last time this season, this time in Ringgold. Friday's softball game between Wildcats and Trojans saw each team ditch their traditional school colors to wear orange and white uniforms and orange ribbons to honor Tunstall freshman Kara Eastwood, who is battling Leukemia. In Friday's rematch with the Trojans, the Wildcats were able to build up a big lead at 6-0 after three innings and 8-1 after four completed.

The 2024-2025 All-Region 2C basketball teams were recently announced and the Dan River Wildcats were recognized on the boys' and girls’ squads. Senior Jameer Reynolds and freshman Liza Maxey each were honored with First Team All-Region selections based on their performance this season. Jameer Reynolds was named to the Region 2C Boys Basketball First Team and was third in the running for Region 2C Player of the Year.

Dan River's basketball season came to an end this week as the Wildcats finished one victory shy of earning a state berth. The Wildcats won their regional quarterfinal game at Glenvar on Tuesday but would fall to Floyd County on Thursday evening. The Buffaloes would go on to defeat Nelson County 73-68 in overtime on Friday to win their Region 2C championship. The fifth-seeded Wildcats overcame a second half rally by Glenvar and held on to defeat the Highlanders 80-76 on Tuesday evening.

The Dan River Wildcats wrapped up their regular season this week with a pair of road contests. The Wildcats defeated Chatham on Monday night but dropped their final game at Appomattox County on Tuesday. Dan River ends the season with a record of 16-6, 8-4 in the Dogwood District and will be the fifth seed in the Region 2C playoffs starting on Tuesday. The Wildcats completed a season sweep of Chatham on Monday evening as Dan River defeated the Cavaliers 54-48.

Dan River Wrestling hosted a quad meet on Wednesday evening, featuring the Wildcats, Chatham, Appomattox County, and Patrick County. Dan River went 1-2 as a team as they defeated the Raiders 60-6, while losing to the Cavaliers 52-23 and the Cougars 43-24. Senior Cole Carter (165 pounds), junior Brice Jones (138 pounds), and sophomore Tanner Atkinson (132 pounds) went 3-0 on the evening. Junior Kylin White (285 pounds) went 2-1 with wins against Chatham and Appomattox.

The Dan River Wrestling team opened up their 2025 schedule this past weekend as they competed in the 45th LCA Invitational at Liberty Christian Academy. The Wildcats finished 13th out of 23 schools and had three wrestlers medal for placing in the top sixth in each weight class. West Virginia's Washington High won the invitational with a team score of 219.5, ahead of Central-Wise (195.5) and Hanover (193).

The Dan River wrestling team went 2-1 at Bassett on Wednesday, December 18. The Wildcats defeated Tunstall and Martinsville while falling to Bassett. Senior Cole Carter and juniors Kylie White and Brice Jones went 3-0 on the night. The Wildcats defeated Martinsville 48-13. Brice Jones (138 pounds) and Eligio Rito-Villar (190 pounds) won their matches by pinfall.
