Saturday’s weather played havoc with the Sussex Premier Cricket League fixtures, with none of the five matches being fully completed. Horsham’s game at Ifield was abandoned after they had restricted the hosts to 158-7 from 49 overs and made 74-3 in 9.3 overs in reply, with both sides awarded 10 points each. But Roffey won at Cuckfield under a a Duckworth Lewis Stern rearranged target, chasing Cuckfield’s 257-7.

With their fourth straight win, Horsham CC cemented their position at the top of the Sussex Premier League table. They’re 17 points clear of title holders Preston Nomads thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 168 from 112 balls by overseas player Matt de Villiers, by far the highest individual Premier League score of the day. Visitors Three Bridges were on level pegging with the hosts coming into the game, but soon found themselves under the cosh after Horsham elected to bat.

Horsham CC completed a hat-trick of wins from three starts after electing to bat first at Middleton, consolidating their place at the top of the Sussex Premier League table on level pegging with Three Bridges. Roffey also won - in a rain-reduced 38-over match, Frankie Cripps scored a spectacularly brutal century.

In Horsham CC’s first home game of the season they were indebted to an outstanding century from former captain Nick Oxley to see off Cuckfield, while Roffey racked up the highest Sussex Premier League score of the day to wallop hosts Ifield. From 58-3 Horsham sustained another blow when skipper Will Beer was run out from a direct hit by William Nolan. Enter Oxley, who, with Ramsey Trainer, put on 103 for the fifth wicket.
