This year’s Myeloma Action Month (MAM), which is observed each March, is focused on celebrating and sharing patient milestones to help call attention to myeloma and bring hope to the global community. The event, led by the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), seeks to improve awareness of myeloma. Over the years, MAM has reached more than 50 million people across 36 countries. Myeloma accounts for about 10% of all blood cancers, affecting more than 176,000 people around the world each year.

A mutation in the TNIP1 gene resulted in a chronic autoimmune disease for two people, one of whom had symptoms similar to Sjögren’s disease, a study shows. The other patient had symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), another type of autoimmune disease.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is once again running its Scenic Shore Bike Tour to raise awareness and support for people with blood cancers, including myeloma. Going on its 32nd edition and set to start July 27 in Mequon, Wisconsin, the annual Scenic Shore Bike Tour will support LLS’ campaign aimed at raising another $2 million or so for blood cancer research and patient aid and support.
