Hillview Church in Morisset, NSW, opened its doors last week to help residents who lost power after a severe storm hit parts of the state. The heavy rainstorms on January 15 had left many households in Cooranbong and other areas without electricity for several days, creating an urgent need for practical support and a safe gathering space. Community members were invited to charge their mobile phones, take hot showers and share warm meals at the church.

Recent events in the Lake Macquarie region (NSW) have emphasised gratitude and appreciation for the contributions of volunteers. Local Adventist church affiliated organisations hosted initiatives to honour those who have given their time to support various programs and services. Avondale School Year 11 hospitality classes organised a High Tea to honour local community volunteers at the Cooranbong Community Centre.

Hillview church in Morisset, NSW, has been actively addressing the Church Growth Crisis in Papua New Guinea (PNG) through significant financial support and community initiatives. After four church members—Pastor Calvyn Townend, Pastor Sven Ostring, and Praveen and Sharmila Saggurthi—witnessed the urgent needs in PNG during the PNG For Christ campaign, the church pledged $A25,000 to provide Bibles and build infrastructure.

Hillview Church (Morisset, NSW) recently held a special baptism ceremony for two young members of its Pathfinder Bible study group. Ally-Mae Agafonov, a participant in Hillview’s Adventurer and Pathfinder clubs, was baptised by Pastor Neil Thompson, who had begun Bible studies during her time at Maitland church. Kyrah Page, who has been part of the Hillview congregation since birth, chose family friend Pastor Matt Atcheson to officiate her baptism.
