To see it is to believe it. Gorgeous potted flora sits on top of state-of-the-art washing machines and dryers. The lighting is modern. There are chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.

It was celebrated at Washington Elementary School recently with a Community Art Day, which brought out more than 200 people. Attendees created beautiful art around the theme of Love + Unity with chalk, paint, and arts and crafts. There was also music, a bouncy house, and dancing.

This slideshow requires JavaScript. UNION COUNTY, NJ — Union County’s Touch-A-Truck offered children a hands-on experience. Hosted at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, visitors were able to experience a wide range of trucks and cars, including those from the Union County Departments of Public Safety, Public Works and Parks and Recreation. They were able to sit inside the trucks and have many photo ops. In addition, guests were able to take a hayride through a portion of the park.

It began during the pandemic by a trio of female artists, Leslie Goldman, Sybil Archibald, and Wendy Bellermann. The three ladies are long-time friends. Goldman and Archibald live in South Orange. Bellermann lives in Maplewood. “I’m super excited,” said Goldman. “It got bigger every year. I’m thrilled.

The monthly Hilton Neighborhood Association meeting recently hosted competing candidates for the one open seat on the township committee. Democratic candidates Jane Collins-Colding and Max Kravitz answered questions regarding local Maplewood issues at the DeHart Community Center. The two candidates are vying for the Democratic party nomination, which in heavily Democratic Maplewood is tantamount to election. Collins-Colding has five children and has been married 27 years.
