Heavy, dense fog is limiting visibility across the tri-state Sunday morning making for a dreary start to the day. A little drizzle is accompanying the fog which is blanketing the region and making it tough to see even nearby buildings. How long will the fog last? The fog should start to clear up by late morning or early afternoon. It will give way to strong, gusty winds followed by heavy rain and some lightning later in the day.

New Yorkers heading to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday will unfortunately need to bring rain gear with them, according to the latest Storm Team 4 forecast. Rain is expected during the parade, but the good news is winds are expected to be less than 10 miles an hour, which would mean the balloons could fly. The Thanksgiving Day parade balloons cannot fly if maximum sustained winds are 23 miles per hour or greater, or if gusts exceed 34 miles per hour.

A powerful winter storm swooped into the New York area overnight, dumping nearly a foot of snow on spots throughout its hours-long siege Tuesday. New York City plows were out for the first time in two years, though Central Park (1.2 inches) and LaGuardia (0.6 inches), for example, didn't record much accumulation. During the heaviest snowfall, though, even midtown Manhattan looked like a whiteout. The snow tapered off for most of the region by early afternoon.

Sanitation crews worked overnight to prepare for heavy, wet snow enveloping the tri-state area, and even with many school districts announcing closures or remote learning days Tuesday, the storm impacts will likely be widespread. The system started as rain for most, falling in New York City overnight ahead of an expected transition to snow around dawn. Track the snow with StormTracker4 here. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour are possible during Tuesday's morning rush.
