China has successfully launched three astronauts into space on a mission to re-staff its in-orbit space station. Staff who work at the launch site as well as some of their families and other members of the public gathered in organised lines to watch the rocket take-off. The Shenzhou 20 mission’s astronauts are Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie, Lin Xiqiang, deputy director general of China Manned Space Agency, said. They will replace three astronauts currently on the Chinese space station.

A huge search is under way in Germany for a gunman believed to still be at large after shooting two people dead yesterday. German police in a spa town north of Frankfurt on Sunday were expanding a manhunt for a suspect still on the loose after two people were fatally shot a day earlier. Police in the Hesse region said the two victims were gunned down in a residential area of Bad Nauheim, about 22 miles north of Frankfurt.

A weed dealer has admitted to causing the death of a 7-year-old boy and 35-year-old man in a devastating house explosion in Newcastle. Reece Galbraith, 33, admitted two counts of manslaughter and the production and supply of cannabis at Newcastle Crown Court after the blast levelled a property in the city in October last year and killed two people, including a seven-year-old boy.
