    A crew from an Australian space company has allegedly been threatened with murder and ordered to "dig a hole" in a confrontation in the Far North Queensland bush. The Queensland Police Service has made three arrests over the incident which allegedly took place on January 23, on a rural property outside the town of Weipa, on Cape York.

    Virgin Australia has confirmed it is cutting direct flights between Darwin and Adelaide during the Top End’s popular tourism season this year. A spokesperson for the carrier confirmed on Tuesday it was dumping the route, which was set to return from June 22. The service was scheduled to operate three return flights per week during the peak season. “We have made the difficult decision to indefinitely suspend our seasonal Adelaide-Darwin route based on low forecasted demand,” they said.

    The Northern Territory Police Association's (NTPA) president says he fears it's a "matter of time" until a death in custody occurs as police station cells swell to capacity with dozens of overflow prisoners. The NT's prisons are so full that the Department of Corrections is currently housing more than 200 prisoners in police station watch houses in Darwin and the regional towns of Alice Springs and Katherine, as arrest numbers continue to grow during a government crackdown on crime.

NT government data shows Wadeye residents make up 5 per cent of the NT's jail population. Senior officers say ALOs have never been more important, after a year where racial tensions between police and Aboriginal people have made headlines. Mr Munar wants the next generation in his remote community, located in one of the most disadvantaged areas in Australia, to see his journey as an inspiration.
