After off-and-on rainfall for most of Saturday, we’ll need to get through two more waves of thunderstorms in the next 24 hours. The first arrives tonight. Thunderstorms currently in Oklahoma and Kansas will cross into our area overnight. Expect to hear rumbles of thunder and pouring rain after midnight. Thankfully, the risk for severe weather tonight is relatively low. A morning lull is expected Sunday, and we might even see some sunshine.

Friday may have gotten off to a quiet start, but that calm won’t last. Thunderstorms are expected to fire up tonight, and rain chances will stick around through Sunday evening. Fortunately, the tornado risk remains low, thanks to these storms being more elevated in nature.

The NWS received over 1,500 wind damage reports during the month — also a record. These included downed trees, power outages, and structural damage.

Hard to complain about the chamber of commerce weather we had today. Sunny skies, a light breeze, and temperatures just a pinch below average made for a picture-perfect day. But enjoy it while it lasts—a shake-up in the weather pattern arrives tomorrow. Clouds will start to return by late Wednesday morning, with highs rebounding into the 70s. We’ll also be at risk of ending our impressive 9-day streak without rainfall. Scattered, hit-or-miss showers are expected Wednesday afternoon.
