The Shes Perfect camp will appeal against her dramatic demotion from first place in Sunday's French 1,000 Guineas after labelling Mickael Barzalona's use of his hand down the neck of the promoted winner Zarigana as "unacceptable". The filly, who cost €50,000 and is owned by Basher Watts Racing, finished first past the post in the Classic under Kieran Shoemark but was deemed to have interfered with Zarigana and the places were reversed following a lengthy stewards' inquiry.

Tony Carroll capped his 1,000th runner at the track in the perfect way when Time Patrol got up narrowly to land the 6f handicap. The Sussex venue is Carroll's most successful turf track and his landmark day was made extra special with the five-year-old's neck success under Jack Doughty. The trainer then made it 127 winners at the course with the Doughty-ridden Port Hedland in the 5½f handicap. Carroll said: "I'm so delighted.
