A Minneapolis woman says police officers illegally entered her house in the middle of the night following a complaint about a loose dog. But police say after an hour of door knocking and phone calls, they’d grown concerned about a possible emergency inside while trying to evade an aggressive animal. Ebony Dobbins says Rocky, her rottweiler, escaped from the north side home that she shares with her partner and three young children just before 1 a.m. on March 25.

A Minnesota State University Mankato international student is out of jail on bond after a federal judge ordered authorities to release him more than a month after he was arrested. Immigration agents David Whereatt and Jacob Henkemeyer arrested Mohammed Hoque outside his apartment March 28 on an order from supervisor Michael Hyland. The Department of Homeland Security claims that the 20-year-old native of Bangladesh is a public safety threat because of a 2023 misdemeanor conviction.

Federal prosecutors on Thursday charged a Minnesota state trooper with producing child sex abuse images. Trooper Jeremy Francis Plonski is charged with one count of producing child pornography. To protect the identity of the alleged victim, the criminal complaint remains sealed, and the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s Office is releasing few details from the investigation.
