A nationally known public health researcher is leaving her job next month at the University of Minnesota amid accusations of plagiarism. Rachel Hardeman’s last day will be May 14, according to an email sent to faculty by School of Public Health Dean Melinda Pettigrew on Monday. The email did not state a reason for Hardeman’s departure, and a spokesperson for the university said the U would not elaborate further.

Doğukan Günaydın, 28, is a citizen of Turkey who’s been jailed for two weeks. The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to deport Günaydın because of a drunk-driving conviction.

The Trump administration says a University of Minnesota graduate student from Turkey should remain jailed while the Department of Homeland Security moves forward with removal proceedings. That's according to court documents filed just ahead of a deadline late Friday. Doğukan Günaydin sued the federal government after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested him outside his St. Paul home on March 27, and he’s been detained in the Sherburne County Jail since then.

MANKATO, Minn. — Federal immigration authorities have detained a second Minnesota college student. Minnesota State University, Mankato said in an email Monday that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended the student at an off-campus residence on Friday, March 28, a day after ICE detained a University of Minnesota international graduate student. President Edward Inch notified students and faculty with a campus-wide email about the detainment on Monday afternoon.
