A woman charged with attacking law enforcement during a protest in Minneapolis pleaded not guilty at a brief hearing Thursday morning before a judge released her from the Sherburne County Jail. Isabel Lopez, 27, was among a group of about 100 people who protested what they thought was an immigration raid at a restaurant on June 3. Federal agents, including some from ICE and some wearing masks, arrived at Lake St. and Bloomington Ave. in armored vehicles.

After about a day of deliberations, a Hennepin County jury on Friday found a Brooklyn Park man responsible for a violent crash that killed five young women as they drove along Lake Street in Minneapolis. Jurors convicted Derrick Thompson on all of the 15 counts with which Hennepin County prosecutors charged him: 10 counts of criminal vehicular homicide and five counts of third-degree murder.

The Minneapolis City Attorney's Office on Thursday charged a man with obstructing and fleeing police at a protest that followed a raid this week on a Lake Street business. Agents from multiple federal agencies — including Immigration and Customs Enforcement—- appeared at Lake St. and Bloomington Avenue at midday Tuesday to search the Taqueria y Birrieria Las Cuatro Milpas restaurant as part of a drug, money laundering and human trafficking investigation.

Some current and former public officials are raising concerns about the way authorities carried out a search of a south Minneapolis restaurant Tuesday. Agents from the FBI, ATF, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and other agencies rolled up in armored vehicles and tactical gear on a busy stretch of Lake Street in the middle of the day, leading many people in the heavily Latino area to believe that an immigration raid was underway.
