The top enlisted leader for the 20,000-person Air Force Special Operations Command was relieved of duty for “loss in confidence in his ability to fulfill his duties,” according to a statement released by AFSOC officials. An AFSOC spokesperson told Task & Purpose that Chief Master Sgt. Anthony Green was fired Monday as the command chief and reassigned outside of AFSOC headquarters at Hurlburt Field, Florida, pending the outcome of an investigation.

A senior Navy officer who represented the U.S. in NATO military planning was fired Monday with no clear explanation from the Pentagon on why they were removed. Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, a career Navy helicopter pilot, had been the U.S.’s top military representative to the NATO Military Committee. The fourth and final soldier killed in a heavy vehicle accident last week was a 28-year-old artillery mechanic from Michigan, the Army said Wednesday. Staff Sgt. Troy S. Knutson-Collins of Battle Creek, Michigan was killed Mar. 25 along with three other soldiers when their M88A2 Hercules — a tank-like tow-truck for other armored vehicles — sunk into a swampy bog in a Lithuanian training area. He had been assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division since 2018.
