The Pride junior is about as tough as they come, so even an ailing knee wasn’t going to keep her off the floor last season but it did require a position change from guard to forward. The inaugural Big 5 Women’s Classic will take place this Friday, Dec. 6, at Villanova’s Finneran Pavilion, with all six Big 5 programs competing under the same roof for the first time.
With Drexel joining the Big 5 for the first time this offseason, the women’s city series restructured to match the men’s new format from a year ago, dividing the six teams into two pods, with two set matchups to determine the pairings for the championship night.

Jack Kennedy’s emergence for the Spring-Ford boys’ basketball team might seem like a surprise to some.
Just not to him.
The junior helped the Rams earn a come-from-behind 48-34 home win over North Penn in their season opener Tuesday night with 10 key points. It was the varsity debut for Kennedy, who transferred to Spring-Ford from Malvern Prep in the offseason.

PHOENIXVILLE — Deacon Baratta, Phoenixville’s gifted 6-foot-7 senior forward, is from a basketball family. His father, Andy, played at Penn under Big Five Hall of Famer Fran Dunphy. His younger sister, Kayden, is a junior star on the Phoenixville girls’ basketball team.
Both Deacon and Kayden cannot remember a time when basketball was not part of their lives.

Last year didn’t go according to plan for The Haverford School.
A young-but-promising group had two starters go down to ACL tears in the months leading up to the season, putting a cloud over a year that still went pretty well for the Fords, all things considered.
