Kornev went 47.55 to win by more than a half-second and dip under the automatic qualifying time for the 2025 World Championships.

    Russian Championships: Oleg Kostin Wins Chaotic 50 FlyOleg Kostin pulled out the right swim at the right time Thursday at the Russian Swimming Championships, winning the men’s 50 butterfly with a time of 23.15 seconds. The session also featured a Russian record by Oleg Kozhakin in the men’s 50 breaststroke. His time was .01 seconds ahead of Egor Yurchenko. Third was Roman Shevlyakov in 23.26.

    Ahmed Hafnaoui Officially Suspended 21 Months for Whereabouts ViolationsTunisian Olympic gold medalist Ahmed Hafnaoui has had his provisional suspension for whereabouts violations enacted, which will keep him out of competition through 2026. World Aquatics’ Integrity Unit affirmed the suspension on Monday. It is effective April 11 for a period of 21 months, keeping him out of competition until Jan. 10, 2026. Results by Hafnaoui since April 11, 2024 have also been disqualified.
