    Mayor Neil Gibbs in front of the giant 8ft x 8ft poppy made up of thousands of smaller crocheted and knitted woollen poppies which took a team of 'knitters' nearly a year to create. REMEMBRANCE is set to be marked across Stroud District with a number of services and parades. In Stroud the big Remembrance day event takes place on Sunday, November 10 at Park Gardens at 10.45am with a Remembrance service and wreath laying at the war memorial in Park Gardens.

    4 1/1 STEAM engine fans will be delighted by the sight of Engine 6106 in this week's nostalgia section. The magnificent engine is pictured at Brimscombe Engine Shed and the picture is courtesy of Derek King. The engine was built in 1931 in Swindon and after a long life the locomotive was given a cosmetic overhaul and repaint in 2019. Do you remember the glory days of Steam travel in England?

    4 1/1 BACK in 1960 the infamous Seven Rail Bridge Disaster took place on Tuesday October 25. Former Gazette photographer captured the aftermath of the disaster in which five men lost their lives and he published them on his Facebook page David Ireland's Gazette Pictures From The Past and are reproduced here.. Two tankers collided and brought down the Sharpness - Lydney link. Chris Witts wrote about the disaster in his book and website Severn Tales.
