An Australian mining company has received environmental approval to implement mining infrastructure in the Mid West, bringing it a step closer to reality. On Monday, Australian Vanadium Ltd (AVL) announced to stakeholders its proposal for the Gabanintha Vanadium Project, located about 40km south-east of Meekatharra, had received approval from WA Environment Minister Reece Whitby.

The Nationals have unveiled their home base in Geraldton, as the countdown to the State election continues to tick down. To celebrate their official office opening, the Nationals invited the community to attend the office on Marine Terrace, and take part in a morning tea on Monday. About 30 people showed up, including State Nationals leader Shane Love and Geraldton candidate Kirrilee Warr.

The City of Greater Geraldton mayor has doubled down on his view of the Federal Government’s stance on Australia Day, calling for it take ownership rather than leaving it to local governments to decide. Despite recording one of the State’s biggest price hikes, houses in the Greater Geraldton remain among the most affordable, property data from Domain has indicated. The research revealed Greater Geraldton had a 25.8 per cent increase in house prices over the past 12 months. According to the data, the region ranked sixth in regional WA for highest annual growth, with Toodyay (Wheatbelt), Dardanup, and Collie (both South West) rounding out the top three.

A woman in her 70s has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a car crash in Geraldton. St John WA confirmed the woman had been involved in a car crash just after 10am this morning near the intersection of Waldeck Street and Hill Way. Police say the crash involved two cars, with a female driver injured during the incident. An ambulance arrived at the scene a short time later.
