Broome locals’ Easter beach plans were cut short by a surprise 3.5-metre croc sighting at Gantheaume Point on Sunday morning. The confirmed sighting has prompted an immediate closure of Cable Beach, along with nearby Gantheaume and Reddell Beaches, as a safety precaution. The Shire of Broome announced the closures would remain in place for at least 24 hours while rangers from the Parks and Wildlife Service patrol the area.
