The community grassroots group Preserve Estes Park (PEP) recently turned in 300 petition signatures to Deputy Town Clerk Bunny Beers on Friday, Dec. 1, as part of a citizens-initiated ordinance to put a land use rezoning question before the town board in January 2024.

Outdoor recreation accounted for $1.1 trillion in gross economic impact in 2022, 2.2% of the nation’s gross domestic product, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The industry accounted for 2.8% of Colorado’s GDP, the report said, and outdoor-industry employment increased by 9.2% in the state. The BEA report said the outdoor industry supported 5 million jobs across the United States.

America’s veterans deserve the best medical care money can buy. But despite a $2 billion new facility, increased funding, and years of promises, the Department of Veterans Affairs isn’t even offering competent and consistent care in the Eastern Colorado Health Care System at this point. The Denver Post’s Sam Tabachnik reported Sunday on a vast scandal of incompetence, cover-ups and misconduct at the VA system headquartered out of Aurora’s new hospital.

With a majority of Larimer County votes counted for the Nov. 7 Estes Park R-3 School Board election, unofficial results from Larimer county are showing candidates Brenda Wyss and Brad Shochat as the majority nominees selected to fill the two open board seats. With 8,833 votes counted as of 6:21 p.m. on Nov. 8, Wyss currently leads the four candidate race with 33% of the vote (2,917 votes).
