Over two hours after the Denver "No Kings" protest ended, a group of protesters clashed with Denver police officers. CBS crew members at the scene report police stood with riot shields, blocking entry onto the interstate, and gas was in the air. Some protesters were seen throwing bottles towards police. Authorities closed West Colfax Avenue in both directions between I-25 and N. Osage Street due to the protest activity.

Rocky Mountain National Park's Trail Ridge Road opened for the season on Friday. US 34 connects Grand Lake and Estes Park. RMNP announced the opening on social media. The popular route for tourists closed last October. Too much snow prevented road crews from plowing all the snow and ice by Memorial Day weekend. This was the second year that the road had not opened for Memorial Day.

Protesters showed up at a Republican event to discuss the budget bill in downtown Denver on Thursday, shouting over the speakers. As protesters overshadowed the discussion about what is known as the "one big, beautiful bill," Colorado Representatives Gabe Evans and Lauren Boebert met with reporters outside the State Capitol to discuss the spending bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a single vote.

A new era of racing cars at a speedway in Colorado may be just down the road. John Bandimere Jr. told CBS News Colorado last week, "We also promised you that when we had news, we would share it with you. Well, we have some news." Bandimere Jr. said that the organization, with partners, closed on the first parcel of land near Hudson in Weld County. He said this is the first piece of a "complex puzzle" that would also include acquiring property around it.

Gov. Jared Polis has vetoed a bill that was intended to improve safety for rideshare passengers. Uber had threatened to leave if the bill became law. It would have required background checks, among other regulations. State Rep. Jenny Willford, a Northglenn Democrat, sponsored House Bill 25-1291 after sharing her story of being sexually assaulted during a ride on Lyft.
